Laptop Keyboards – Replacement and Upgrade Options
A laptop keyboard replacement is often the cheapest fix for sticky, dead or liquid-damaged keys. Adepta Technologies lists replacement keyboards in Kenya for popular HP, Lenovo and Dell laptop series, in backlit and non-backlit versions. The key to a good result is matching the keyboard to your exact laptop.
How to find the right keyboard
- Start with the exact model: use the label on the base or the model in system settings, for example HP EliteBook 840 G3 or Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15. Manufacturers' service manuals list keyboard part numbers by model and country variant.
- Backlit or not: HP part names use "BL" for backlit. A backlit keyboard only lights up if the laptop itself is wired for backlighting, and some models in a series are not. A spare ribbon socket beside the keyboard connector can indicate backlight support. Ask a technician if unsure.
- Layout: keyboards differ by country, so compare the key layout and Enter key shape with your old keyboard before buying.
- Part number: a number is usually printed on the underside of the old keyboard.
- Fitting: on some HP laptops the keyboard is part of the top-case assembly. Some laptops need the palm rest removed, so ask a technician if you are not comfortable dismantling it.
